Recruitment
The Yeoman Light Aircraft Company "YLAC" is an innovative British company, with a mission to develop and market the best products in modern light aviation, whilst at the same time providing industry-leading levels of support - thus making aircraft ownership vastly more user-friendly and allowing more and more people to discover the dream of flying. Our launch product was the revolutionary Dynamic microlight, which achieved UK Type Approval in 2007 after a 4 year certification process, and we are currently working on several major new projects.
We are looking to enhance our existing team with some special individuals, to help us deliver our ambitious plan. We offer a stimulating environment which is "the best of both worlds"- we are not a start-up (we were founded in 2003) with all the associated risk, but neither are we a big corporation set in our ways and reluctant to change. All suitably licensed and experienced personnel will be eligible to use the Company’s aircraft for their private flying.
To be successful in our team you will be ready to work hard. You will be flexible, ready to follow opportunities as and when as they arise. You will be able to work independently in a semi-structured environment. But most importantly of all, you will share our passion and determination for changing the light aviation industry, and making aircraft ownership as hassle-free as owning a car. The challenge we have set ourselves is high, but with the right team, the sky is quite literally the limit.
If you are interested in any of the positions below, you should initially send us an e-mail, providing your name and address, current position, and a brief description of your experience (including your full current CV if available), along with when you could be available to join us. Please e-mail recruitment@ylac.co.uk. We will normally send a personal response by e-mail within 24 hours, detailing the next step in the process.
Thank you for visiting our recruitment pages.

Hours worked, length of engagement and remuneration are subject to negotiation and will depend on individual experience. YLAC offers a strong commitment to a long-term relationship. The Engineer will generally work from his or her own premises, but will make journeys to our workshop and office facility in Southern England, and carry out visits within the UK and Europe required.
The successful candidate will almost certainly be educated to at least first degree level in aeronautical engineering, and will be experienced in the design and certification of light aircraft (certified or otherwise). Specific activities will include:
- Design and certification of aircraft modifications
- Comparing existing airworthiness work with relevant standards (BCAR Section S and JAR-VLA)
- Designing and supervising structural tests
- Writing compliance reports
- Liaising with relevant Airworthiness Authorities, especially the CAA
- Advising YLAC management on all airworthiness matters, and assisting business decisions
- Evaluating existing procedures against relevant standards (UK Section A8-1 and EASA Part 21 G and J)
- Assisting in updating and maintaining the accuracy of Pilot's Operating Handbook and Maintenance Manual
Knowledge of German and/or any Slavic language is an advantage, as is holding any type of Pilot's license.
Most importantly of all, the successful candidate will be a ‘can do’ individual, possessing good interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others across cultural and linguistic divide
Interested candidates should initially send an e-mail to recruitment@ylac.com, providing their name and address, current position, and a brief description
A personal response by e-mail will normally be sent within 24 hours, detailing the next step in the process.
OFFICE MANAGER (Full-Time)
We have a vacancy for a full time Office Manager to be based at our headquarters.
This multi-dimensional role is key to the growth of our business, ensuring that the YLAC team is well supported and that we have appropriate back-office capability.
The successful candidate will be ambitious and be ready to grow with the business, constantly reshaping his or her role as the company’s stage of development allows. Whilst we are fully open-minded towards your educational and career background, you will be well-organised and tenacious, and have good persuasion skills. You will also have good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Fluent German, Czech, Slovak and/or Polish would be an advantage, as would holding a Pilot’s Licence.
Initially, your specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- General administration
- Dealing with initial sales enquiries
- Liaising with existing customers
- Co-ordinating sales, marketing and PR activities
- Co-ordinating technical support
- Maintaining stock
- Flying company aircraft (if suitably licensed and experienced)
- Maintaining MS Excel-based issues lists
- Writing meeting minutes
- Assisting with project management
Working hours for this role will generally be normal business hours, however in order to support specific events you will be required to work up to 8 weekends per year with two weekdays off in lieu. Some UK and occasional overseas travel will be necessary. Salary by negotiation.
GRADUATE INTERNSHIP
We an opportuniy for a graduate to spend time working with us and gaining valuable insight into an entrepreneurial company, with the potential of permanent employment. We have a wide range of stimulating potential technical, commercial and/or operational projects available.
The successful candidate will have a degree from a leading university, hold a PPL or have some aviation knowledge (former UAS candidates are ideal) , and be able to live within ready commuting distance of our headquarters.
Primary tasks will initially be to assist our full-time office manager. You will be paid expenses including travel and a limited subsistence allowance.
PRESENTATION PILOTS (AD HOC/UK AND IRELAND)
We are always looking to expand our cadre of talented sales pilots.
To be a successful presentation pilot, you will share our passion for growing the franchise of light aviation. You will give demonstration flights to our potential customers initially in our Dynamic aircraft, and be able to delight them with your skill, knowledge and professionalism, neatly coupling your flying and interpersonal skills to demonstrate the aircraft to them in the way which they find most appealing. In addition, if you are interested you may elect to carry out ferry flights in new aircraft from Slovakia to the UK and Ireland.
You will hold a BCPL, CPL or ATPL with a valid SEP rating, and if you haven’t yet received it, we will offer you microlight differences training in order that you may lawfully fly the Dynamic. We strongly prefer those with instructor experience, although if your rating has lapsed or if your experience was in the military, this is fine.
Indeed, we do prefer those with a military aviation or major airline background. Whilst of course we can’t match airline remuneration, for those who retain an interest in light aircraft we can offer the chance to do some real flying away from the "office" in a relaxed yet professional environment, and to fly a beautiful new aeroplane with some interesting people, whilst receiving what amounts to generous expenses.
Our presentation pilots all co-operate with us flexibly, offering us a level of commitment consistent with their other flying activities. As our customers live all over the British Isles, so do our sales pilots. If you don’t live near to our base in Southend, we will ferry the aircraft to you as required.
